Whatever I have in my bar – Cocktails with your leftovers

Our February meeting changed venue at the last minute…

so our new host, The Vamp, whipped up some great cocktails with those weird leftovers we all have in our bar, but don’t necessarily know what to do with.

She started with a classic cocktail called the Fish House Punch which is rum, cognac, peach brandy, simple syrup, and lemon juice.

The second cocktail for the evening…the Apple Car. This is a really simple drink and it is a great leftover liquor cocktail. All you need Applejack, Cointreau, and lemon juice. The rim of the glass is coated with a little sugar.

Here in Colorado we have a favorite apothecary that produces some of the best bitters and syrups. Dram Apothecary is based in a little ghost town in the mountains and they have this yummy drink on their website…the Prairie Rose. From Dram, the drink includes their Juniper Rose syrup and Wild Mountain Sage bitters. Also, the recipe calls for gin and club soda. Our host added rose crystals for a little more rose flavor.

We finished off with a kind of aperitif called the Fernet Flip. This one also has a Colorado favorite, Leapold Brothers fernet. Served in a small shot glass, the drink is made of the fernet, raw egg, sweet vermouth, and chocolate cherry bitters.

Thank you Vamp for filling in and for hosting in your oh-so-great basement tiki bar!
